RegioTours was founded in 2004 and developed as a website of echonet communication in Vienna.
Partners since the then creation were the Österr. Federal Railways, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Innovation, the City of Vienna, the City of Bratislava, the Vienna Lines and the Bratislava Transport Authority
Initially, RegioTours was funded by contributions from the partners, which was a start-up funding for the project. Since 2006, the partners make no financial contributions, the portal is financed only through advertising and communication activities.
